Anderson. A prequel to the original Dune, it chronicles how the Rossak Sisterhood evolved into the Bene Gesserit. The incident of Valya Harkonnen using a voice comes from one called the “Mentats of Dune.” All three books intertwine the development of the Sisterhood, Mentats, Navigators, and Sook Doctors. Mentioned in Crazy Cartoon Cast: The New Normal (2020) by AniMat. I don’t want to just be critical of the first episode of a TV show, but this was average on every level. The acting was poor, except for a few well known actors like Mark Strong, Emily Watson, Olivia Williams and maybe Travis Fimmel. The rest of the cast felt like they just stepped out of film academy or something. The story was very vague and the dialogue wasn’t worth a dune. I love slow dramas that take forever to build because I know the payoff is worth the wait. But it wasn’t just slow, a lot happened, but it was just boring, I don’t know how else to say it. The soundtrack that wandered through the films was a bit ripped off here, some familiar sounds pop in here and there, but the timing was off. It’s like I’ve heard a lot of music here that had no effect. I remembered how long we were in films with just people talking, and then boom, Hans Zimmer did his magic and I was just amazed. But I know he didn’t do the voice acting here and I don’t even have to check that. I’m not sure if Denis Villeneuve was involved with this production, I hope not. My question is, did they like it being made? Would a mediocre TV show like this after two epic movies have any effect on the long-awaited third movie? The reason I ask is because The Penguin was so good that it made me appreciate Batman even more than I did after seeing it, and I can’t wait for the second movie. So how will Dune: Prophecy affect the third movie, if at all? Food for thought.
