A local activist and a young mayor-in-the-making clash over the best road for their impoverished suburb. The original French title of the project was “Les Indésirables”; before they change it.. The MISERABLES director’s second film in 2019 still has Alexis Manenti and Steve Tchientcheu, but not in the same roles. Manenti becomes mayor from a policeman, and Tchientcheu becomes a local director and an important member of the town hall… This is not a social crime, just a social drama, it just removes the crime element. This is just an indictment against the real facts, a real tragedy. Not everyone agrees with the film’s message. At the heart of this story is the government’s migrant strategy. If you want to get rid of your problems, if you want to dream, hope for the future, this movie is not for you. But if you are brave enough to open your eyes to the real and ugly face of the modern world, modern society, then this movie is the best option for you. A very painful, emotional, upsetting ending. Unforgettable.
